Teenage Pimples

Interestingly, acne can occur in children from birth until around the time puberty hormones kick in.

Generally, acne for children is of no great concern except if it occurs between the ages of one and six or is causing scarring at any stage. Seek professional help if this is happening.

Teenage acne generally starts at the time of puberty, and the timing varies from person to person. Teenage acne is seen equally in males and females of all races and ethnicities and affects 85% of those aged 16 to 18.

Early signs of acne are comedones in the “T-Zone”, the region of the face covering the central forehead and the central part of the face. From here it can sometimes be short-lived and resolve itself, but unfortunately it can also progress to mild, moderate, or severe acne and then continue well into adulthood.
