How to Decide What Skincare Prescription is the Right One for You

How to Decide What Skincare Prescription is the Right One for You

As skincare lovers, we’re all on the same quest for healthy and flawless skin. And no matter how much we already know, there’s always room for learning because knowledge is the key to finding the right products that will be most effective for us.

Knowing your skin type is the first step you need to take towards creating an appropriate skincare routine that works for you. Defining your specific skincare concerns is crucial, in order to find the type of products that suit your skin best.
Along with the professional range, the team at Science Skincare also presents a home care
selection of products to help you achieve radiant skin and maintain the results received after using the medical grade products.

There are three types of skincare prescription from Science Skincare that cover the main issues people face during their skincare journey: ageing prevention, oily skin/visible pores and sensitive skin/redness. The idea is to create the perfect simple yet effective routine catered to your personal preferences and skin concerns and to take the guesswork out while still getting great results.

Aging Prevention

As we age, our skin produces less elastin and collagen which results in thinner skin, looking less firm and in turn leads to fine lines and wrinkles. Sun exposure and not wearing sunscreen daily may also be factors that contribute to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as sun spots. To reduce the signs of premature ageing, it’s beneficial to use products rich in antioxidants and vitamins. The focus is on stimulating and boosting skin’s collagen production, and therefore, minimising the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. A balanced routine with a hydrating cream cleanser, a good sunscreen and featuring VitaminC Lactic Acid, Vitamin A and Hyaluronic Acid will help you slow down the ageing process and will reveal youthful glow.

Oily Skin/Visible Pores

If your main concern is oily skin, prone to blemishes and enlarged pores, this category is for you. Increased oil production and dead skin cells build-up can cause blockage in pores and can lead to acne. External factors such as stress, lack of sleep, diet or environmental aggressors can also contribute to this common concern. Using a mild cleanser with activated charcoal, along with applying a blend of AHA and BHA (Salicylic and Mandelic Acids) and a lightweight moisturiser with Hyaluronic Acid will help you unclog pores and remove dead skin cells. Two crucial ingredients in this prescription are Vitamin A that reduces congestion
and oil production and Niacinamide (B3) which is a potent anti-inflammatory ingredient.

Sensitive Skin/Redness

Redness and skin sensitivity can happen to anyone, regardless of skin type. It can be caused by irritation or another reaction to a large array of factors. It usually results in burning or itching sensation, redness or tightness, rashes and severe dryness. Gentle products are the right answer for this issue. Soothing ingredients such as Hyaluronic AcidBiomimetic Lipids and Niacinamide will calm and repair the damaged skin.
